I've done the following things:
1. Applied for positions for writers to different companies. I am optimistic but also understand that there are some places that might want more than what I can offer in terms of my qualifications. I don't mind at all. Looking for jobs is a very difficult thing and takes energy that sometimes fail me.
2. I'm also looking into moving either to Montreal or France (Paris, would be nice). I went to do research on moving to both places. I think some blogs complain about the difficulties of securing a place to live in France, a bank, drivers licence, and even a dental office that would accept them (this blog said they needed paperwork that included the dental records of one's ex-boyfriends or ex-girlfriends). I think it would require me to learn and master the French language. I'm currently learning French.
3. I also learned that (Montreal) has lower rents compared to other cities in Canada. Montreal, they say on one blog, has a problem with failing infrastructure (people are warned to dodge falling stonework). They say that Montreal has great culture, which I like. The problem living in Canada is that the weather (winter) is awful. I don't mind the weather being bad or worse. I rather like living in a cold place. Summer weather isn't my ideal weather. I don't seem to have a comfortable outfit to wear in the summer but I've learned to deal with summer weather by wearing linen or thin cotton clothes (long sleeves to ward off the sun).
4. I've sent my novels as proposals to several literary agencies. Some have rejected them quickly. I guess they just aren't interested in me as an author. I'm thinking of changing my name or adopting a pseudonym. I wonder if my name sounds so boring, or perhaps it's sounds made up. I swear that's what I was given and my stepfather tells me his name was changed when his grandfather (or was it his father) had it changed legally from another name, which I think was Villanueva or whatnot. I want to change my name to something better than what it is. I haven't thought of a name that might be glitzy or exciting enough. However, I do know my birth name was Mountbatten.
5. I've not heard back from the Libertarian party which I joined, hoping to run for City Council. The deadline is tomorrow for the filing and I don't think they want me to represent them. I don't care. I guess at the time I asked to apply for nomination I was inspired by the wish to help the community.
